From little things big things grow....

I have a new favourite paper.
We have been getting a pile of these delivered to us from a friend ( thank you Carol ) for a number of years now.  She saved them especially for us, but has recently decided to stop buying them.
They are full of the most interesting articles for people who love living in the country....and even for those who don't.  Apart from livestock and horticulture they have sections on gardening, food, books, country property (love that section) and great photos.
I muddled them up to take this photo.....I wonder if Bill will notice they are out of order!!

"Country-living-farmer Bill" was most excited to purchase a mulcher a few days ago. It means we can get our compost/mulch pile going rather than burning everything.

Rose pruning time.

The roses are currently being pruned to within an inch of their lives.
This gorgeous one on the archway is called Devoniensis. It's an old tea rose and has the most intoxicating fragrance.
The orange blob on the ground is Bill's new radio ( or wireless as he calls it much to Amy's horror ). It's a heavy duty tradie/man- on- the- land type radio!
The rusty, old, fire- surviving trailer in the background is still going strong.

We may not have quite as much burning to do now although Bill is quite partial to a burn off. He has made a perfect fire pit to fulfill the necessary requirements. No more massive bonfires (rabbit accommodation) requiring permits for us anymore.

This little area was severely affected in the fire. The piles of mulch are from trees around the property  that were removed. It was a native bed and the small stumps were leucadendrons. We will remove them but wanted to see whether they may have recovered like the one on the left. It seems pretty unlikely now.
Today Bill found this in the bare ground there....

....and we couldn't be more delighted. There were quite a few of them. Not little leucadendron seedlings, but we will watch with interest as they grow.(looking very much like the 180 seedlings I've already relocated...  hope they're not the giant tree!)

Scrappy Soul Blossoms needed a border too.....

Does it look like I have added a bit on in all four corners because I ran out of this border fabric?
Mmmmmm......thought so.*grin*

Time to get those woolly socks on!!!

Say cheese.......

Flynn was helping (?) his Mummy bake an orange cake today. She asked him to say cheese..... bless him!

There's something so Springy about  jonquils .....and the smell is quite unique. They looked so gorgeous out there today.

The yellow and orange combination couldn't be more perfect and fresh.

Do you think it's too late to lift and relocate these?
I thought about it for 2 seconds today and decided to do it anyway!
A quick count of bulbs as I was separating them produced another 130!!!
Bill dug another round patch near the frog pond and in they went just as roughly as last time. They must be the toughest of all plants ever.
I have been thrilled with how the others  have grown and flowered and I expect this lot will do the same.
That's 7 new jonquil/daffodil beds around the dam now......and they look wonderful.

It's definitely too late to move this lot but I will remember them for next year.
It's good to see so many buds ready to burst, but I don't think there will be 130 blooms.  However, I anticipate that there will  probably be that many bulbs in this clump too.

I must have had yellow wafting through my brain today.
With a choice of any possible colour available, I chose yellow to start my crochet lessons.
Once again, I'll be flying by the seat of my pants because I haven't got a clue how to do it.
I'll just google it!

Abraham Darby, you really are exquisite. And how can you possibly still be looking so gorgeous when it's zero degrees?
No wonder the perfume is so delicious - look at all those petals.

Sometimes I don't bother with borders on my quilts.
Sometimes they look better without them.
They certainly are a great way to make a smallish quilt much larger though.
It takes ages to measure, cut, sew, press and then repeat for the other side!
But I think Belle needed a border.
Very simple quilting required.
Bill thinks we should use it as a tablecloth!
It even looks a bit like a rug!

This is Flynn's Go away Dad, I'm watching Peppa pig look!!
