Bill composed a photo book of our time away. It arrived here yesterday.
Before submitting it for printing, he’d asked me to proof read the captions.
( I’ve always secretly prided myself on my spell checking skills ….as Sam and Amy will attest to ). Turns out I’m not as much of a word expert as I thought I was. Bill has counted five errors that have slipped though the editing staff so far!
It’s been a long, cold winter here at Frogpond farm and we seem to be still squelching around out there. Our little flower cart has been open again for the last couple of weeks.
Flower access is at the back, away from the wind and rain.
It’s just a Spring to Christmas thing now.
Too hot in the middle of Summer and too cold in Winter.
I absolutely love picking and arranging the flowers and still feel very chuffed when people choose to buy them.
This year I ordered new liliums.
We’ve had so much rain that I was reluctant to plant them in the soggy garden beds so they’ve been potted up into some huge pots. I’m really looking forward to seeing them flower. They will all be new ones to me. Their names intrigue me too.
Making stuff
It started with a sock.
And to this very day, it remains “ a sock”…singular. Still waiting to become one of a pair, because once I’d set eyes on the myriad options of colours in the wool and yarn department, my brain went into overdrive.
Two face washers knitted in cotton yarn and gifted to Amy and Helen.
Coriander and cream. ( It’s those names again ).
Somewhere in the mix, a rabbit for Arch.
And a mermaid for Olive.
This little beauty came next.
Bunny in a dotty dress.
I adore her.
This shows you how big her shoes are compared to a ball of wool.
In the olden days,I only ever remember knitting a jumper each winter and a couple of scarves. Plain, purl, rib, knit 2 together. That’s about how difficult it ever became.
Lots of new terminology and stitches to learn.
I now have a conglomeration of teddy bear parts / clothing waiting to be put together.
Two bears to be completed at some stage……
Because now I’ve gone off on another tangent.
Teaching myself how to decipher this language.
A completely different technique from knitting. Crochet.
From this…..no idea.
To this……looking a bit like I know what I’m doing…
Now I really look like I know what I’m doing.
And now this…..even bobbling!!
It hasn’t been a walk in the park. I’ve practiced LOTS and devoured every you tube video about crochet that I could find.
Eventually I might be able to “fix” this old crocheted blanket that Bill always had on his bed as a little boy.
Around the garden path….
My $10 wheelbarrow from the tip shop.
A visit from Amy and Helen.
Pearl is meeting Eugene.
They helped pick up the horse manure from the paddocks.
Jordan and Ivy came to visit too. We loved having them.
I’m looking forward to…..
Finishing this book. I’ve loved it so far. A bit like The Dry and a first novel for the author, an Australian.
Picking lots of asparagus in the coming days. It’s started out looking good.
Picking more daffs.
Picking red wattle to put in some special bunches…..
Picking more of these fabulous leucadendrons….
Some funny bits that might put a smile on your face…..
Absolutely me. Come to think of it I probably wouldn’t even have the stereo on!
I hope everyone has a great week.
PS I probably should be getting Sam to edit this blog before I press publish!
