Pobblebonks, painting and the disappearing pile

Pretty as a picture when I picked them last night....

They are from a greyish -leafed daisy plant called Susannah Mitchell ( I think of you Sue, each time I mention it's name ).
It has the loveliest creamy- lemon flowers and grows 35cm by 100cm, so very low growing and spreading. It is drought tolerant and looks like it will propagate easily. I planted it in the centre garden out the front and it is bolting along like nobody's business.

It's a Pobblebonk......that's what it is!
Also known as a banjo frog.
They are quite common and we have seen them here before and certainly heard their BONK sound.
It is the male making that sound when seeking a female, but the females don't call back.
We had forgotten about them though, because we have had so little rain and that's when they usually surface. Otherwise they bury themselves backwards into the ground.
Also called a Bullfrog and can be mistaken for a toad.
We have definitely seen their frothy floating egg masses in the pond many times.

Wildlife warrior Bill was on the job again today, in spite of all the goings on.
This poor fellow had a broken wing and was spotted by the rubbish removal boys as they drove up the back.
Bill was able to catch him and deliver him to our local wildlife lady.
I expect she may have had to euthanase him, poor little thing.

It has gone from this.....

to this.....

We will get those hoses out and start playing around with them to form some possible pathways over the next couple of days.
Our concreter is coming early next week.

Today was painting the ceiling day.....right through the whole house except for the bedrooms ( because it is all one piece). Groan......

#Alastair was here all day as well, putting the skirting boards inside the garden room and doing a few bits and pieces to the floor from yesterday.
  # The floor finisher is unable to be here for a few more weeks unfortunately.
  # Tomorrow the electrician is back to connect the power to the sheds.
  # Still trying to find a paver to do the brick path.
  # Water pipes still need to go down up the back, some windows replaced that were cracked in the fire, the spouting gutter guard replaced, the roof cleaned .....and that's just off the top of my head!
But it is all starting to come to an end.

I spotted this creature tonight.
Ewww....any ideas anyone?

 Swimming lessons.
Beautiful boys.

All things flooring and sheds

It's all been about the wormy chestnut today.
Very slow going but it will look fabulous we think.

Boots off for morning tea.

Bill is a very happy man.
............I'm just going out to the shed!

Bear in mind that all this stuff has been kept somewhere around the place, mostly inside the house!

...except the ride on mower of course, which had it's own little Bunnings pallet garage covered in a Bunnings plastic cover.

Bill has spent some time today having a last scrounge through the rubbish pile.

That collection of stuff leaning against the shed wall will all find a place in the shed.

During the search, Bill found this little guy hiding under some planks of wood. He gently relocated him to the rose garden. He was huge!
We must see if we can find out what sort of frog he is.

Sometimes it's best to keep it simple and that's precisely what we've decided to do with our paving.

Nothing very fancy. Just concrete and a brick pathway around the Garden Room using the old bricks that have been taken up.

The rubbish is being removed on Thursday so we will get some hoses and lay them out how we think it might look.

Yikes.....!!!!

32mm and lots of love

32mm.
We have rainwater in our new tank for the very first time and there is fresh water in the dam for the ducks and frogs. They are very happy.
Toby and Trip didn't seem to mind that it was wet and squishy underfoot at 7am when they pestered Bill to take them to their usual corner up the road.

Amy has been home this weekend so that means....

....our little buddies are here and....

 ....Amy cooks.
We never quite know what concoction she has in store for us but it is always delicious.
 Thank you lovely girl.

Beautiful perfumed David Austin roses are in bloom.....

And a favourite single rose called Golden Wings.

Thank you for the gorgeous lemons Viv. Some of them are huge!

A different coloured achillea called Peach has just started to flower.
It looks more like cherry to me though. I dug up a clump of it a few months ago and scattered it around the other beds.
I love being able to do that.

This rose is called veilchenblau.....such an interesting name and colour.
 Is it purple or pink?

Lately we have discovered even more new growth on some of the bare tree stumps. Talk about resilience.

Our painter is back tomorrow.
The shed boys were here for 3 hours today to finish up a few bits and pieces (even though it was Sunday!!!!)

There have been 42 days of workers being here so far.....just for the sheds and the new room.( not that I've been taking note or anything!! )
