Two months of flaneuring

I love this word.
( I’ve talked about this before ).
It is me to a tee.
It seems as though I am naturally inclined to flaneurism although I just call it “ a serious stroll” and for some reason my flaneuring has reached an all time high living here.

Bill…..? Mmm, not so much. He’s too busy doing things. He’s a doer and a sorter. And thank goodness for that.
The list of his accomplished tasks in the doing and sorting department in the last two months is huge.
Of course, he hasn’t done all this alone. This little man is never far away from the action ( thank you for my hi- vis top Uncle Sam ).

Amy and Helen have worked just as hard on their own little projects too.
Solar gate installation with Amy. The gate was already there, but now we don’t have to get out to open and close it. Heaven forbid!

So much appreciated now that the weather has turned cool and is getting dark earlier.

Cutting back and removal of trailer loads of dead stuff.

Removing the white fence from half way down the garden.

Using some bricks from the property to lay out a brick border.

Adding some top soil to the beds to replace that which was removed in the clearing process.

Cutting back the multitude of stumps in our little patch.

Pulling out the succulents along the side fence.

And then, pulling down the fence and re fashioning it into something more in keeping with that space.

Helping Helen and Amy with the frame for their new chicken coop.

It’s been a fabulous Autumn here.
We went for a picnic to Buchan Caves Reserve.

That’s Helen!
The drive into Buchan is a so picturesque.

There was an air show in Sale which was fun…..and loud. The Roulettes can often be seen and heard practising their routines around these parts.

A much enjoyed visit from Ned and Andy and Sam at Easter.

( not sure why these photos are blurry)
A photo of the family at Frogpond just before we left.

Easter celebrations at Marmalade House.

I planted 125 plants in our front garden. Most of them dug up and collected from Frog pond. I’m in the process of mulching the beds now. My brain has already switched to how it will look in Spring and whether the plants will even be happy in such a different climate and soil. Ever positive, I’m just assuming they will.

We used one of the off cuts from the stump removal to balance a round metal dish we brought with us that was used as a little fountain. We’ve repurposed it to grow a lovely silver dichondra that we hope will eventually spill over the edges.

The poor bulbs got thrown into a spot at the back of the sheds that Helen had cleared.
Many of them were in the “ no idea” category but I tried to keep the ones that looked the same together and just hoped for the best.

They’ve started to poke their little green spears out of the ground much to our delight, so all is not lost.

I adore wandering around the place every day.
This is my daily flaneuring.

Exquisite little nest.

Unoccupied at present. Would love to know which bird it belonged to. One of the joys of living here is the number of feathered friends that have made this place their home too.

We have a stash of pumpkins that popped up at the front of the farmhouse. Pa Britten would be smiling at that.

Speaking of “stash”, Bill found this under one of the beds that was left here by the previous owners. None of us are game enough to look inside. Is this what was meant by stashing your fortune under the mattress…?

Jack turned one a week ago.

Last three photo credits are from Eclipse Photography. A friend of Amy’s who has recently started her own business. The property pictured here is not ours. Such a gorgeous rural place for taking photos though.
Here he is in his own place about to make his mark on the Sprinkles cake made by his aunties, Claire and Sara.

And spending a great day with everyone.

He brings us so much joy every single day.

All the boxes are STILL in the box room for those of you playing at home.

Have a lovely week everyone. Hope you find some awe and wonder.
Speaking of which, in spite of each of us looking and photographing and getting up at all hours of the day and night, we did NOT capture the aurora during the past week. Certainly nothing like we were anticipating anyway.
Hope you all did though.
