Around the garden path at Frogpond Farm in July.....
Farmer Bill planted two pear trees in the orchard. They were given to us by Amy and Helen. One is a William ( Bartlett) and the other is a Buerre Bosc. We've never had a pear tree before.
The feijoa hedge isn't really hedging yet ( in my brain, it's all joined together and four metres high), but the orchard is starting to fill up now.
Sam helped to remove some roses around the rose garden to let the banksia rose get on with hedging too. I made sure to take some cuttings and we've already got roots.
I think they might be Cornelia....a sweet smelling musk rose.
Huge success with the straw flower seeds, so I've sown all of them now.
Delphinium seeds are just beginning to germinate too.
And heaven forbid, I think these are the first Scilla seeds finally poking their little green shoots through. It's taken ten weeks but I am over the moon.
Hold that thought though because there is an error alert to announce from my last blog post......
This is not a poppy seed shooting.
Not sure what I was thinking... I didn't even know what a poppy seedling looked like. Talk about clutching at straws.
This is how they should look.
I've taken to seed sowing like a duck to water.
Which has led me to add greenhouse to my "I'd-love-one-of-those" list.
Just like this.
Bill?
( from Pinterest )
Come to think of it, I could easily live in there.
Bill found some persimmons on special at the supermarket and we decided to dry them. This beautiful book told us everything we needed to know.
You're supposed to hang them by the stem but there was no stem.
Haven't tried them yet but they're almost ready I think.
We have no idea how they'll taste, but I'm expecting they'll be very sweet.
Sew and sew.
Some hand sewing as opposed to sitting at the sewing machine.
Slow stitching.
Getting there.....
And just because I loved the look of this and it's all made with scraps.
So I started cutting....
One of sixteen. Definitely a work in progress.
This little embroidery was in a frame in an op shop. I have had it for ages. It would have only cost a couple of dollars. I'm not sure what to do with it yet but I'll keep looking at it and have a think about it.
We celebrated Bill's birthday with a special Amy-version mussel dish and a scrumptious Helen- version chocolate cake and a game of Bananarama....
Thank you for cooking Amy and Helen. We all loved it.
The girls had a weekend at Wilsons Prom.
Amy tried to recreate a photo taken of Bill when he was there years ago.
Sara and Claire got engaged a few weeks ago. Claire is Helen's sister.
Beautiful girls.
We are bursting with excitement about seeing these little beauties late next week. I'll need to get my caffeine and chocolate supply organised for flying.
My least favourite thing ever.
Bill has spent countless hours helping to organise a reunion of the Rosebery Football Club. It has been a labour of love for him and especially enjoyable when older members have made contact with him about their stories and collected paraphernalia. It sounds like the weather will be perfect.
On my reading pile right now....
Just funny....
Some Pinterest inspiration......
Surely I could find somewhere for an Iris Walk.
I adore everything about this lounge room.
The French doors, the books, the couches, the cushions, the plants, the timber beams, the open fireplace and of course the quilt over the couch.
Look at those quilts on the beds.....
This is me ( half the time anyway).
Have a great weekend everyone.
Do a bit of lolly gagging if you get the chance.
I certainly will be.
