Winter days

It couldn't be more Winter today if it tried.
Rain, cold, windy and bleak.
And more frozen bird baths.

But gosh it's nice for a change.
All the fires get lit.

 The lamps get turned on.

The quilts come out of the cupboard to be put on our my knees and everything becomes very cosy.

And then best of all, my sewing machine gets relocated to its winter position.
In spite of me promising numerous times never to set up my sewing at the dining room table again, it's there that all the cutting, sewing, folding and pressing has taken place these last couple of weeks. And sometimes, heaven forbid, it even oozes onto the kitchen table from there.
No new fabric. Just bits and pieces I already had.....sometimes even from years ago.
And just to keep me on my toes, I currently have THREE projects on the go and flit from one to the other and back.

This is my Honeysweet Quilt.
The colours have names like raspberry, persimmon, pear, ivory, biscuit and pond.

I'm really loving this one.

Last week was all about Butterscotch and Rose.
Playing with the placement of blocks.

And thirdly, there's Up Parasol ....started last Winter I think ( and still looking for the parasols!)

Gardening can't even be contemplated in this weather for me.
Although Bill managed to get the iceberg rose arbour pruned.

And I picked these beautiful hellebores.

But we are loving the rain and the garden will be soaking it in like nobody's business.

None of us have had any experience with auctions before, but we were all very excited last Saturday when Amy's rental property in Gisborne was auctioned. She has had it for a few years but never lived there.

Such an interesting process and a great outcome for Amy.

Meanwhile in the sunny Pilbara.......
Our littlest ones.
Love them.

Oooooo....yes please.
Stay warm everyone.
