The lighthouse

We have our very own lighthouse.
And our very own lighthouse keeper.

Bill has nurtured his precious cherry tree since planting last year and the whole idea of birds sneaking off with the spoils could not be entertained.
Hence this grandest of structures that adds a whole new meaning to the term..... adding verticality to the garden!!  There are two bunches of cherries that I can see! Will it be worth it? You bet!
It will then be relocated to the fig tree or the apple trees.
There may even be a #2 lighthouse.

Apart from the bird netting cover, Bill used his pallet skills to make another shelf for my Farmshop.

Sew and sew......
A baby boy Quilt for Helen's friend.

Thankyou so much for this gorgeous magazine/book Helen. You are very kind and thoughtful. It couldn't be more perfect and I will savour every page.

A revisit to my Farmers Wife Quilt.

A quick count of 61 blocks completed ( out of 99 ).
I'd forgotten how complex some of those blocks were. I'm surprised I did 61 to be honest!
The good news is that that is enough for a lap Quilt.
So lap Quilt it is. Decent sized lap though.
Now to start sewing all the blocks and strips and cornerstones together.
And just because I love starting new things before I finish old ones.....
Four new blocks for my 100 block Quilt.
This one is all about the vibrant colours.......mostly Amy Butler fabrics.

Amy picked and arranged six jars of  flowers for an afternoon get together.
She did a great job.

Around the garden path

The first bud of thousands has burst open.
Native hibiscus.

Just when I thought the crabapples had finished, Ioensis Plena bursts forth.
This particular variety lines the Main Street in Riddell.
Did you know.....they belong to the rose family. No wonder they are so tough.

Planted more sunflower seeds around the potager.
Only two seeds germinated from the original plantings.

I can only guess that they may have drowned.
Zinnias. Never planted before. In fact I'm not sure that I even know what they are. The seeds are in and we'll see what happens.
I don't usually plant annuals, except white petunias and pansies, but this year I've gone out on a limb!

Flynn is very happy.
Archie is wondering what the heck he is looking at!

It's a new baby!!
Due next May.
Her name is Rosie Loveheart ( according to Flynn).
Yes.
Let's just all go with that!
We are the luckiest grandparents ever.
