Makers love to make

And we've been inspired to make all sorts of things this week.

Amy and Helen brought home some juicy, ripe blackberries picked from around Lakes Entrance.
Helen made them into jam.

Only enough for two jars, but delicious.

Farmer Bill made a proper pathway using natural mulched bits and pieces from up the back.
It's always been a bit messy around the tank.
He had help.

I made worm juice.
Well, perhaps that's not quite right, but maybe I helped make it happen.
Talk about excited! We couldn't believe it when we turned the tap on and finally this precious tea- coloured liquid came gurgling out.

I have been taking a great interest in feeding the compost worms and trying to work out their requirements to keep them happy.

I'm even thinking of using an old bathtub to make an even bigger worm farm up the back.

The more I read about gardens and plants, the more I understand how the soil is the key.
Soil, sun and water.
Sun and water is just sun and water, but the condition of the soil is another aspect altogether. Improving the health of the soil is something we can all work on and using worm castings and worm juice is a great way to do that, to say nothing of having the actual worms in the soil.

Around the garden path last week.
Bill uncovered the new green grass sown a few weeks ago.

The dwarf apple trees are looking a treat.

The cheeky cockatoos are yet to discover these three sunflowers still standing strong and tall.

Roses are still blooming.

And every season was covered weatherwise.

The dogs are still with us.
They have walked with Bill each morning.

The garden room is a favourite place for them.....it's where the sun shines on these cold days we've been having ( I'm sure it didn't climb above 12 degrees today).
How is a tomato supposed to ripen in this weather?

Beautiful fresh produce from Brian and Colleen's garden delivered this morning.
Bartered for........oh, that's right.....nothing!

Amy and Helen went fishing in Lakes Entrance.....

.....and looked gorgeous going out last night.

I have been inspired to make paths like this in our rose garden.
These pictures were found on Pinterest.

I love how the garden spills over the paths.
Less mowing, less edging, less watering.
I'm sure we could make something like this.
How hard could it be?
Mmmmm.......

Have a great week everyone.
Hope you get to make something too.

  1. The boys would love some strawberries Jamesy. Not sure if they'd last the trip though

    1. Apparently they have picked dozens and dozens from their plants. Jamesy is the strawberry king down here.
