Transformation

There's something beautifully nostalgic about discovering old things.
Amy and Helen seem to have inherited a love of precisely that.
This charming old rocking horse belonged to Helen's Grandma. She passed it on to Alice who has now passed it on to Helen. She remembers playing on it as a little girl.
It weighs a ton.
There are timber bits but there seems to be plastery stuff in places too.
This reminds me of your rocking horse project Ruth.

Big and little helpers.

Helen is going to try to restore it whilst still retaining all the pieces she can.
Amy found this old kitchen cabinet ( can't remember where, probably hard rubbish collection day! ) and is giving it a makeover too.

And of course if there's an opportunity to use a power tool then even better.

Both a work in progress but very happy with the start they have both made.

Farmer Bill was doing a transformation of his own while this was going on.
It's amazing what a few sticks poked into a bit of wire can do. The beginnings of the bulb picking garden.

Springing into Spring

Buckets of blooms for Helen.  A coin donation per stem raised approx $300 for her school to donate to the Cancer Council.

Flowers in my little farmshop.

Sew and sew
Just one.
I needed to finish Olive's Quilt so that Sam could take it to Perth with him.

Amy sewed a cute little dolly wrap for Olive too.

We had FaceTime with these darling little kidlets yesterday. It was so good to see their beautiful faces.

We celebrated Father's Day here with Bill's family this year.
The much anticipated presentation of the footy tipping trophy took place then too. Bill Senior won it for the second time in a row. I don't know how he does it but I'll be sure to watch closely next time. He'll be barracking  for his beloved Tigers again this year.

The girls had Father's Day with Helen's family in Lakes Entrance.
They went fishing.
Amy's face says it all.

They also returned with some tuna and snapper for Amy to cook for us on Saturday night. Thanks Lino and Amy.  It was so delicious.

Helen made sour dough bread.
Best I have ever tasted.

Thank you for the strawberry jam Teahne.
It was delicious on the bread.

More games around the kitchen table....

The garden path in Winter looks like this...

.......so much to look forward to though.

I often find myself drawn to flowers that have our family names in them.
This gorgeous daisy is called Susannah Mitchell. It's about to explode into flower as we speak.

And this one is new. It's a special daffodil called Margaret Mitchell.
It just came into bloom today. I planted five bulbs and hope they keep multiplying as time goes on.

The leucadendrons are ablaze right now. I wonder if it has something to do with the chilly nights we've had this winter.

I am looking forward to reading this....

......and attending this....

These two showed up this morning.
We find ourselves listening for them every day now.

Growing up we were constantly told to go outside and play.

Here's hoping we all get to do a bit of that this week.
Enjoy your week everyone.
