The girls are off to Lakes

It's no secret that Amy and Helen love fishing.
It's also no secret that they both love Lakes Entrance.
Helen's family have lived there for many years so it came as no surprise when the girls started talking about moving there.

Amy recently applied for a job in the area and was successful. She will be working for East Gippsland Water and part of her job will involve visiting all their water facilities. She'll be in her element.
She moves down there next Thursday. Helen will follow at the end of the school year. They are very excited about their new sea change.
Amy has stocked up on fishing paraphernalia....

They collected a car full of bits and pieces from here last weekend.

They are especially looking forward to a life away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Idyllic fishing spots like these await.....

They shouted themselves a magazine each a few days ago......
No prizes for guessing Amy's choice of browsing material!

Our hearts were full to bursting after our trip to see these little ones.
Flynn has just celebrated his seventh birthday.

We were lucky enough to catch Dennis before he headed back to Victoria on his motorbike. He was staying with Ben.

Around the garden path....

These are straw flowers.
And there are three trays full! I've potted up 150 seedlings ( didn't even make a dint ) and put them in the garden room to keep warm.

Billy button seeds have been sown in trays along with echinacea and agastache.

We visited the Botanic gardens at Melton again to check on the progress of their plantings. This eucalypt caught my eye. Such healthy foliage and interesting branch colour and texture.

They have a little volunteer plant shop there which opens on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Most of their plants are $4 per pot.
We came home with these little beauties.
Some additions to our Ruby Garden.

One of our purchases was a seedling of Eucalyptus Macrocarpa.
When in flower, it looks like this......

And then, just because......more seeds ordered online from Rose and Abraham. Rudbeckia is new to me.

Farmer Bill has been pallet collecting again. These will provide a bit of protection from the icy winds for our raised garden bulb beds up the back.

And when he's not out there braving the elements......

Sew and sew
Finished.

Scraps ready for Carousels.

My recent op shop find for $3.
I adore this vintage plate.

Whoever was in charge of stamping wasn't having a good day!

The dried persimmons tasted delicious.
I'm thinking a persimmon tree in the orchard would be wonderful.
I've already tried once before without success but I'm keen to have another go.

Our little visitors......

Part of my daily ritual!
Have a wonderful week everyone.

    1. If we get another persimmon tree, it might get a bit more attention than last time Sue. Last time it was just stuck up the back and left to fend for itself! I've probably learnt a bit since then! xx
