The raised vegie patch, worms and birthdays

We passed paddocks of beautiful canary yellow on our way to Minyip at the weekend.
The canola crops are looking good, even if they do smell a bit strange.

And the sheep were being moved to a new paddock for grazing.....some of them are probably the lambs we passed weeks ago.

A raised garden bed for Pa....

We took up a raised garden bed for Dad and helped to set it up for him.
The compost pile from 7 weeks ago was going to be a perfect filler, along with a huge pile of hay from Dennis and Raylene's place.
The worms had already taken up residence and were looking a treat.

Pa made sure he collected a few for his fishing trip with his new fishing buddy, Bert. A volunteer who drives down from Nhill. They are heading off on Tuesday if the weather is fine. The first time for Dad since who knows when......
We had lots of helpers....

....including Taz who also came over for the day

and even townsfolk riding by, who just wanted to say hello!
( the plastic bags are filled with sheep manure that we picked up at a stop along the way...some of that was added too!)

A photo of the working gang.

...and a funny one....just for Ned!

Building update.....
It's been a dreary old day with showers off and on,
but the boys have battled on in the trenches out there. They arrived at 7 and will stay "until we are finished".
Trenches for the sheds, storm water pipes, electrical cables for the sheds, water pipes for up the back.... Inspector coming and going.
No concrete today though. Too wet I expect.

Happy Birthday Sam
Happiest of birthdays to this little man who was born 30 years ago today ( September 1st ).

and who now has his own little man to share his life ......

Have a wonderful day Sammy. Wish we could be up there with you.

  4. I reckon Sam will see this, Happy Birthday Sam for your 30th. You are half as old as someone we know. Seems like yesterday a little boy was peering between the fence pickets next to our place. Hope your new home is great!!! Keep up the good work on the blog Helen. Want to see more photos of the concreting and shed building. Hope Jack said "tanks" for his worm farm veggie patch, as only a ex plumber should.... Cheers Rossy,,,,in Kal.
