Lighting the Christmas tree

Haven't even got the tree up yet !
But I'm sure it'll make me happy when I do!
Has anyone else got their Christmas tree up?
This is as close as we've come so far.

That's a bunch of vibrant coloured dahlias. Why did I not know about dahlias? I love them. And these are just the common everyday punnet of seedlings variety. Have they gone out of fashion or something? They are a summer flower so may be that's why. They will need watering I'm guessing.  The bushes are quite big and filled with buds. I have seen photos on Instagram of the most beautiful blooms.....special ones.
I will need to investigate further.

Sew and sew...
Zero.

Playing with dried rose petals and buds.

A note in the money box last week.

I dug up a clump and left them in the Farmshop for her. I was happy for her to just take them but she left some money in the money box.

Little jars of red and green for the Christmas table.

Around the garden path this week.
Our verbascum has finally grown and flowered for the first time.
As a tiny plant, it kept being eaten to the ground by earwigs. I dug it up and put it in a pot for the following year, then planted it in a new spot last year.
I love it's huge multi stemmed column of lemon flowers. The little ones at the side can be taken off and planted too. Well worth the trouble for that vertical element. Apparently it can grow to two metres tall. I'd love to see that one day.

A mass of buds ready to burst into flower. This one is called Lilium regale.. the true old fashioned Christmas lily apparently. Can't wait to see it in full bloom.

Native hibiscus. Not one ounce of looking after and very exposed on the western boundary.

Where the heck did you come from? You guys stopped flowering ages ago.

Propping up the apple branches like Jamesy told us to.

Bill cut back the banksias. They have gone very spindly and impoverished looking. Hope this hacking will reinvigorate them. Love their bristly flower heads.

Beautiful stems of Lilium Eyeliner. The petals are finely edged with a maroon colour. They seem to be the first to flower here and are all so strong and self supporting. The liliums this year are my pride and joy. So worth the effort to propagate them.

Using the box hedge clippings....

Christmas pav for lunch with Ruth and Ross on Saturday.
Forgot to take a photo of us all.....

Little Archie love.

Hope you get to sparkle and twinkle this week everyone.
I'm always a bit tilted, so that won't be a problem here!!

    1. Yes Jo. Tubers are the way to go. Will try to remember the festival in March in Bendigo. I worked out that they were an Autumn flower. 😊
