As we speak

It's 5 o'clock on Saturday afternoon and this is my view as we speak.
The overcast conditions and rain have produced that glorious light that we often get at this time of the year.
The smell of the rain on the garden is beautiful.
We are lucky to have a tin roof so we get to hear it as well.

Before the rain, eighteen holes were dug and plants planted.

All inspired by a visit to the International Flower and Garden Show last Saturday in Melbourne.

This was my favourite.

And I adored this old copper pot being used in the garden.
My phone battery had run out by this stage, so this photo has come from Instagram.

It has inspired me to do something with an old copper pot from Dad's shed.
It has parts cut out of one side.
Mmmmm.....
I'll just have to work with it.

I came home with tubers and bulbs and proteas and more leucadendrons.

I was in my element.
Such a lovely day.

Amy and Helen went to one of the woodworking classes held at the show  and came home with their own handmade herb planter.

I'm going to request one of these now.......

Helen got to practise her new found skills sooner than she expected.

If you think Helen looks like she's pretending to hammer .....you're right.

No pretending here though.

Perfect in their new kitchen at Thornbury.
Moving Day for Helen and Claire.
From Bonbeach to Thornbury.

And then there were three.

Around the garden path.

A load of cheap hay from over the road.

Fun fact from Jamesy.....
If a stem or leaf is covering part of the pink lady apple, it doesn't turn pink in that particular spot!

Our acacia trees in the horse paddocks are under attack.
 ALL of them.
I hope we haven't left it too late.
We planted them as tubestock twelve months ago.

This morning they all got a drenching with some homemade organic white oil spray.

Kiann's younger brother Angus has finally arrived home after spending four months in a Perth hospital recovering from a motorcycle accident.
Our little boys were there to welcome him and Nana Deb home.
( Sam is chasing Arch around the airport at this stage.)

Flynn....little nature boy.

Farmer Bill is ready for the change in weather.
Heater flue has been cleaned and wood stacked under cover.

Have a great week everyone.
Hope you are inspired to plant something.
