Love is love

It's as simple and as complicated as that.
( photo from Pinterest )

But for these two, it couldn't be more simple.
Amy and Helen became engaged over the Easter weekend and our family are delighted.

This was the location, with champagne, rose petals, flowers and a picnic blanket.
Claire and Sarah were in charge of the rose petals apparently.
We loved the recount of your involvement in the event girls!

We celebrated with Helen's family late on Saturday afternoon.
They live near Lakes Entrance and have a stunning rural landscape to look out on, which is of special significance to them.

Helen's Dad has a very productive vegie garden.....

We joined the littlies searching the garden for Easter eggs before it got too dark outside.

Can't for the life of me work out why you aren't in any of the Easter egg hunt photos Helen!

Jordan and I went bug hunting at one stage, near where he is currently building his little train track!

Helen showed us lots of favourite places from her childhood.

We are not surprised it is all so special to her.
We wish them both all the happiness in the world.

Bill and I had been to visit Mum just before Easter.
She needed to have some laser treatment on her eyes in Ballarat so we had a day there. We called in to see her twin brother Pat on the way home and had a cuppa with him and Aunty Doff (short for Dorothy).

And that's where The Fig Story comes in to the picture.
When we walked out the back to have a look at the garden, I spotted the biggest fig tree I'd ever seen. Apparently it was a seedling that came from "Mr  Britten"(my Pop, Dad's father).
Phone photo..... not very clear unfortunately.

Underneath that massive tree were several seedlings that had popped up. Uncle Pat offered them to us.
I couldn't get the spade down there quickly enough!
We came home with three very healthy stems.

I have since potted them up and now anxiously await the outcome.
I even washed the pots! I would normally never do that.
Wouldn't it be amazing if they all grew.
I can't wait to see what eventuates.
The fig trees with provenance.

Speaking of figs, we have had such a productive harvest from our own fig tree this year ( no provenance there I'm afraid ). The sugar cube structure to stop the birds getting the spoils must surely have helped.

Farmer Bill put his master chef 's hat on and made the most delicious fig jam.
Ten jars of it!

Can't beat a good old fashioned recipe book.

I pretend that the sugar content is a typo.......€#¥'!!!!

There's been a flying visit from these scallywags  too.
So much to laugh about when the three of them get together and start romping and wrestling and playing tricks.

Leesa gave me some gorgeous terracotta pots in a basket.
I found the perfect 'saucers' for them in Pa's shed when we were up there (now that's a surprise)! They look like rusty old tart tins. They are perfect. I've planted some succulents in them for now.
Don't panic Leesa....I got some for you too. Couldn't help it really. They were stuck together. Still are!

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and ate as much chocolate as you could fit in.
This little poppet had chocolate for the first time. Cacao.
I'm guessing he was in heaven!

We had almost given up on receiving Flynn's letter. It was posted on March 18/19 and arrived today! One month later.
Farmer Bill was beside himself.
He'd been checking the letter box for days!

Thank you darling.

Have a great week everyone.
Late this afternoon. It's greening up......

.......and there's water in the frog pond. Bliss.

  1. "H" Please be sure to include my name on one of those figs jams. One without so much sugar, would like to keep my teeth for a few more years!!
