I found one of their places of residence quite by accident.
The hollow tubes of last year's James Nottle kniphofias have provided the perfect cool, dark conditions that they love.....I was hoping I might have at least reduced the numbers a bit, but then late one night I found this......
What the heck???????
So back to the drawing board.
How can I plant all these babies......
.....when THIS is likely to happen...
Aghhhhh!!!!
In spite of all this munching on hollyhocks and seedlings, I have still been able to pick beautiful blooms from other flowers for my little farmshop.
We celebrated Amy's and Helen's birthdays last night.
Books and flowers were high on the gift list.
We all love books.
Our resident pallet man was delighted with his recent Father's Day gift from Sam.
The possibilities are endless.
Our littlest blue eyed bubba...
And her big brothers who make our hearts sing.
Around the garden path this week.
Farmer Bill couldn't just stick to the aisle to do his makeover.
He's moved out further and further.
This was taken from our bathroom window.
Appleblossom, Dutch irises, asparagus and the purple orbs of chives.
Two huge bulbs of pineapple lily, purchased at the Flower and Garden Show are ready to be planted now by the look of things.
And two ginger lilies are ready to go in too. This lot required semi shade. Mmmm, we don't really do semi shade here. If you're a plant and you live here, you're either in full sun or full shade. I walked around with the two bulbs for ages before finding somewhere semi shade-ish.
Both lots of bulbs are new to me and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing what transpires. So excited ( and easily pleased obviously).
I clumped clods of dirt around the fejoias to make a well for watering. Bill made chicken wire frames to protect them from the three resident hares that seem to have moved in recently too.
Right then, back to those pesky earwigs for me.
Have a great weekend everyone.
