Seeds of cleome

This whole seed raising business is addictive.
Still flying by the seat of my pants but loving every minute.
Cleome (I'm not even sure how to pronounce it ) was the only seed that  didn't germinate.

I found out later that I shouldn't have buried them, just left them on the surface. They are also called spider flowers. All new to me.

But then yesterday......

Yay! I was just about to give up on them.

There's been a killing frenzy going on here.
Slugs.
In beer traps.

I've been pouring beer ( much to Bill's horror) into small glass jars and laying them on their sides at night near all the plants that have that look of "slug attack" about them. Apparently they slither in and drown! Sometimes the earwigs get caught too. A bonus.
And then Bill remembered the bottles of homebrew he had made years ago that were in the cupboards in the granny flat! It's nearly black (stout, I think ) but still smells like beer and the slugs seem to be more than happy with it. Win, win.

A massive branch came down in the wind a few days ago.

Farmer Bill has been out with the chain saw to remove it. More wood for the fire.

This will be the "aisle" at the wedding.

So Bill has been schoozing it up so that it will be lush and green.

He's also been responsible for some other secret father-of-the-bride business.

Secret mother-of-the-bride business ( from Pa's shed).

Pa's rusty tins were perfect for some succulent bits and pieces.

Some garden favourites this week.

Jo headed off to Tassy in Mac.

She arrived back today bearing gifts. Thanks Jo.

Bill Senior is sporting his Tigers gear proudly ( a gift from the family) and is looking forward to a great game at the weekend.

And we celebrated a belated Fathers Day with him in Geelong with Sue and Jo.
Sue handed over the family football tipping trophy to Bill senior.....the 2017 winner.

Archer turned two.

He is such a sweetheart.

More sweethearts.....

Sew and sew.
More blocks from here....

And may be a scrappy binding for Up Parasol.

And about time too I must say!

We will definitely be doing plenty of that over the next few days.
Hope you all get a chance to do that too.

  2. Love it mum. Yeah I reckon that beer would be even more average tasting now than what it would've been 10 years ago haha. Garden is looking spot on! πŸ‘Œ
